An OverviewThe 6th grade Theatre Arts course is a fundamentals course. The students are introduced to the elements and history of drama. They explore using the elements in short theatrical class scenes and performances. They learn basic acting skills and proper theatre etiquette. Major Assignments

Classwork and Guided Practice
Students are required to participate in class discussions, activities and theatre games. Opting out will negatively impact classwork/guided practice grades. Each class period the students complete an Opening Reflection in the folders that have been provided. They are required to write the question as well as a "quality" response. They are also required to record important notes. I will check folders ONCE every other week (every 5 classes/reflections) Students will also SLATE every other week. A slate is a formal introduction in which students practice oral communication and public speaking skills. They are graded on articulation, projection, posture, vocal tone and quality of response. Slate grades are performance assessment grades as are project completion grades. Major projects are: 1. What is Drama Project 2. Theatre History Project 3. Critical Review of a dramatic work. |
We Are Going Google! |
This year we will be using the Google Classroom application. Google classroom is a virtual extension of the traditional classroom. Students will be able to view lesson content and respond to questions and complete tasks and assignments. We will be setting up shop next week. Stay tuned!
